Get Rich or Die Trying

Who doesn't want to be rich? Who doesn't want all the comforts money can buy? No one. We've always been taught that we have to do something for ourselves in life, be independent, blah blah blah. Basically, do something = get rich or die trying.

So, lets assume I am pretty much the richest person on the planet. What do I do? I've done what I was supposed to do. Do something good for the world? Maybe. Call me selfish if you will, but I am not one to talk big and do shit. I'll do good for my family, friends and myself always and if that involves good for the world, so be it. Below mentioned are a few things I will certainly do :

  • Buy an entire floor on the Burj tower in Dubai. The higher the floor, the better.
  • Buy an IPL Team and play for it as well. Cricket is my passion so this one is a no-brainer.
  • Buy a F1 team and drive for it. (I like being involved in things ;)) Racing is another passion so pretty obvious again.
  • Make education free, as it should be. Education is important and it should be free to be as accessible as possible. I could teach, that is if someone is interested in learning from me. ;)
  • Make sure Indian reality shows are banned. Ok, maybe not because if I do that what will I make fun of? (They are funny after all :D) This will certainly benefit the entire world. IQ levels of a lot of people will improve.
  • Buy Apple so I can get rid of their stupid policies. Such brilliant products really need to be more open. I would love to use OSX on my PC without any hacking :).
I guess that's pretty much all I can think of right now? What would you  do if you were the richest person in the world? Something noble? Something selfish? Or just laze around  doing nothing and allow life to pass you by? Let me know in the comments.

Undelete

Have you ever lost files on your computer? Or deleted them permanently and realized your mistake only after they've been deleted? If yes, don't hit the panic button just yet. Such files can be easily recovered with the right tools and absolutely zero tech knowledge. All you need is an "undelete" program which will do everything while you sit back and watch.

Only today I lost close to 50GB of files "permanently" because I used Shift+Delete buttons. This is the second time I've made a mistake like this; the last time I lost close to 20GB, again because I deleted the files without looking at the drive letter. On both occasions I was saved by a simple program which recovers such deleted files. You may ask how can one recover files which have been permanently deleted by using Shift+Delete buttons? The answer is simple - Shift+Delete operation never deletes the files contents permanently. It only deletes the file indexes from the file system and marks the space as free space, so the content can be recovered. The only catch here is that if you perform any operations on the partition from which the files have been deleted, recovery of files could be a little more difficult and complicated. This is because the operation could quite simply overwrite the free space with some other data.

The program which I recommend for recovering files is - Undelete Plus : http://undelete-plus.com/front-page. It is easy to use and understand and does the job well. There are many others which you can use like Recuva - http://www.piriform.com/recuva. Once you've selected the programs you wish to use, you just need to scan the partitions from which the files are missing (or were deleted) and the programs will scan it for files which can be recovered. Once you find the file, you only need to select it and save it. That's it - files recovered.

Don't want to go through this hassle again? Remember to keep backups for important files on different partitions as far as possible. Hard drives are cheap these days and you should make full use of them. :)

Achmed the Dead Terrorist : Christmas Special

Dashing through the sand
With a bomb strapped to my back
I have a nasty plan
For Christmas in Iraq

I got through checkpoint A
But not through checkpoint B
That's when I got shot in the ass
By the US Military

O, jingle bombs, jingle bombs
I blew up your sea
Where are all the virgins that Bin Laden promised me
O, jingle bombs, jingle bombs
Your soldiers shot me dead
The only thing that I have left is this towel upon my head

I used to be a man
But every time I cough
Thanks to Uncle Sam
My nuts keep falling off

My bombing days are gone
I need to find some work
For a half shift would be much safer
As a convenient store night clerk

O, jingle bombs, jingle bombs
I think I got screwed
Don't laugh at me because I am dead or I keeeel youuuuuuuuuu!!

P.S : I just love this character. Jeff Dunham is a genius :D

Car & Background Modelling in Maya

This is a work in progress of a Mazda RX8 that I am modelling in Maya.

This again is a work in progress of a London Street model.

Tire and rim for the RX8.

Happy New Year

To say it's been a good year would be an understatement. 2009 has been a fantastic year for me and now that it's coming to an end, I can look back and be satisfied with all I've done this year.

I am not someone who sets goals or makes New Year resolutions. I find setting goals can sometimes limit a person's ability to look beyond those goals and this may lead to lost opportunities. I just do everything I can to the best of my abilities and grab every opportunity that comes my way. Keeping everything as simple as possible, I am too busy for complications :P

I hope when you look back at 2009, even you get the same satisfied feeling. It doesn't matter if you set goals and were unable to achieve them and it doesn't matter if things did not always go your way. The only thing that should matter is did you do everything to the best of your abilities? If the answer is yes, then you should be satisfied because when you do that, sooner or later everything falls into place.

I am not being preachy, or maybe I am. But, sometimes it is the little things that can really bring about big changes. I'll only say this, forget about 2009 and look forward to 2010. A new year can bring a lot of new opportunities and you should only be there to grab all of them. I hope you have a wonderful and illness-free year and may you always have the strength to go further than you want and achieve much more than you think you can.

Once again, wish you a very Happy New Year :)

For last year's words belong to last year's language
And next year's words await another voice.
And to make an end is to make a beginning.

“We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day.”

“Every man should be born again on the first day of January. Start with a fresh page. Take up one hole more in the buckle if necessary, or let down one, according to circumstances; but on the first of January let every man gird himself once more, with his face to the front, and take no interest in the things that were and are past.”

Maya

I began learning Autodesk Maya last week and as part of my first assignment, I was told to create chess pieces. Having spent very little time with Maya so far ( a few hours at best), it was a pretty daunting task. But, after spending an entire day I managed to create something that remotely looks like chess pieces. Now, this is not groundbreaking stuff but it's a start.

I will be creating loads more stuff and sharing; so keep visiting. Maybe I could even publish a tutorial of how to do this if needed? Let me know.
